What the job involves
A capacitor is the part that gives the motor the jolt it needs to start and keeps it turning. When it weakens, the motor draws too much current and either stalls or burns out. We discharge and test the capacitor, check the contactor it works with, and read the motor's amp draw under load. If the motor itself has failed bearings or a shorted winding, we replace it with a matched unit and set the fan blade at the correct height and pitch.
What we check and install
We start with the whole starting circuit rather than swapping parts blind. That means the run capacitor, the contactor points, the wiring at the motor, and the condition of the fan blade. On the indoor side we look at the blower motor, the wheel, and whether a clogged filter or blocked return has been overheating it. Outdoor motors in this region take a beating from ag dust and cottonwood packed into the coil, so we clear that and check airflow before we call the repair finished.
How we decide it is the right call
A capacitor that tests below its rated value gets replaced, full stop, because a weak one shortens the life of the compressor. A fan motor is a bigger decision. We look at its amp draw, bearing play, and whether the coil and control side are healthy enough to justify it. If the motor failed because the compressor is also on its way out or the system holds no refrigerant charge, we will tell you that plainly so you can weigh a repair against replacement.

Why did my capacitor fail?
Heat is the main cause. Long stretches of high outdoor temperatures, a coil packed with dust that makes the motor work harder, and normal age all shorten a capacitor's life. They are a wear part and they fail more often in hot climates.
The fan is not spinning but the unit hums. Is that always the capacitor?
Often, but not always. A seized motor bearing, a bad contactor, or debris jammed against the blade can cause the same symptom. We test the circuit before replacing anything so you are not paying for the wrong part.
Can I run the AC until the motor is replaced?
No. Running a system with a failed fan motor lets pressures and temperatures climb and can damage the compressor, which is a far larger repair. Shut it off at the thermostat and call us.
How it works
- Step 1
Tell us the symptom
Call or fill in the quote form. We ask what changed, when it started, and what the thermostat reads. That tells us whether to bring parts for a cooling fault or a heating fault.
- Step 2
We diagnose on site
A technician checks the thermostat, the electrical side, airflow through the filter and coil, refrigerant pressures, and the outdoor unit. You get told what failed and why, in plain words, before anything is replaced.
- Step 3
Repair and verify
We make the repair, then run the system and measure the results at the vents. If a part needs ordering, we say so and give you a realistic window instead of a vague promise.

Why homeowners call us
- Built for real valley heatWe work in areas where afternoons sit above 110 degrees and systems run for months without a break. That shapes how we size repairs, check capacitors and contactors, and judge whether a compressor is genuinely done.
- Attic and package unitsPlenty of homes across the region run attic air handlers or rooftop package units instead of a garage furnace and a side-yard condenser. We are used to the access, the duct runs, and the drain issues those setups bring.
- Dust and debris we expectAg dust, cottonwood fluff and grass clippings pack condenser coils and starve a system of airflow. We clean what we find and show you the difference, rather than adding refrigerant to a unit that just could not breathe.
- Heating too, not only ACFurnace repair, heat pump faults and no-heat calls get the same attention as summer work. Ignition problems, cracked or failing components and short cycling all get diagnosed before we recommend anything larger.
- All major brands, gas & electricFrom Carrier and Trane to Lennox, Goodman, Rheem and Bryant, serviced independently.
- Straight answersWhen a replacement beats a repair, we tell you, sometimes before we roll a truck.
