Safe things to check first
Worth a look before you call — sometimes it saves you the visit.
- 1 Change or wash the filters in each indoor head. Mini-split filters slide out of the front panel and load up faster than people expect.
- 2Check the breaker or disconnect for the outdoor unit and reset it once if it tripped. If it trips again, stop and call us.
- 3Put fresh batteries in the remote or wall control and confirm it is set to cool or heat with a target temperature past current room temperature.
- 4Clear weeds, ag dust buildup, cottonwood fluff and stored items away from the outdoor unit so it has open space on all sides.

Why is only one of my indoor heads not cooling?
On a multi-zone system that usually points to that zone's refrigerant control, a communication fault on the wiring to that head, or a failed indoor fan. The outdoor unit can be healthy while one branch is not getting what it needs. We test each zone separately.
Is water dripping from the indoor unit an emergency?
It is not dangerous, but shut the unit off at the remote so it stops making water and call us. The cause is almost always a blocked condensate drain. Left running, it keeps soaking drywall, insulation and flooring below the head.
How often do mini-split filters need cleaning?
In dusty areas we suggest checking them monthly during heavy cooling season. Mini-split filters are shallow and clog fast, and a loaded filter shows up as weak airflow, ice on the coil and a unit that runs constantly without cooling the room.
Can you repair my mini-split if it is an older or uncommon brand?
Usually yes. Diagnosis is the same across brands, and many parts such as fan motors, capacitors, sensors and drain components are available. Parts availability on discontinued models varies, so we tell you what we find before ordering anything.
My mini-split works in cooling but not heating. Why?
That normally points to the reversing valve, its solenoid coil, or a defrost control issue at the outdoor unit. The system can cool perfectly and still fail to switch over. We test the valve and the controls that command it during the visit.
Should I repair or replace a mini-split that keeps failing?
It depends on the age, whether the failures are in the same component, and the condition of the outdoor unit and line set. A single fan motor or drain problem is worth fixing. Repeated refrigerant loss and a corroded coil usually is not. We will lay out both.
